Private capital will be needed to finance the significant program of infrastructure development for India to grow domestically and position itself globally. Infrastructure spending in India is particularly politicized and could gain efficiencies through a new approach utilizing global capital markets. Newly developed financial innovations can be used to enable infrastructure financing in a way that reduces agency costs, information gaps, and improper incentives. The invisible hand of global capital markets may prove more capable in setting infrastructure project agendas of the future that span varied administrations and political agendas.TOPICS: Credit risk management, MBS and residential mortgage loans, information providers/credit ratings ER -
