AB Securitization activity and the securitization market in India have remained subdued since inception in the early 1990s. This article presents a summary overview of the current Indian securitization market based on trend analysis of securitization volumes data over the last decade or so. It also attempts to gauge current regulatory as well as non-regulatory factors affecting the Indian securitization market. The article underscores the significance of securitization for economic growth and financial stability and emphasizes the need for immediate steps to re-energize the market.TOPICS: Fixed income and structured finance, emerging, legal/regulatory/public policy
