Nowhere is this more true than in Asia, where traditionally there has been a relatively stable mix of producers and consumers, but where the equilibrium now is being seriously challenged by increasing competition. On the supply side, competition is coming from countries such as Qatar, Russia, and potentially central Asia; on the demand side, it is coming from China, India, Europe, and the United States. The purpose of this article is, while allowing for the constraints imposed by such a large and diverse region, to examine the current LNG market in Asia—where it is and where it is going.
